Quick answer
FanficWizard's Baldur's Gate 3 page is an unofficial AI fanfic generator with the fandom already set to Baldur's Gate 3. Type companions or a ship, choose up to three tropes, a tone and a point of view, and it writes a complete General or Teen-rated scene that ends with an AO3-style title, rating, summary and tags.
How to write a Baldur's Gate 3 fanfic with AI
Short scenes of about 500 words are free, 3 a day. Full chapters of about 1,500 words use 1 credit each.
- Keep the fandom on Baldur's Gate 3, so the scene stays on the Sword Coast (or in an AU you describe in the premise).
- Name the characters: one focus companion, a pairing, or a small camp found-family group. For romance, use adult companions and adult NPCs only — Astarion, Gale, Shadowheart, Lae'zel, Karlach, Wyll, Halsin, Minthara and the rest of the grown-up cast. Never child or teen NPCs.
- Pick up to three tropes. Slow burn, enemies to lovers, found family, hurt/comfort and fake dating all fit camp life, tadpole pressure and long rests.
- Choose a tone and point of view: fluff for a quiet campfire, angst for a Cazador or Absolute beat, humor for a disastrous long rest. First, third, or second person (reader-insert or Tav-insert).
- Generate, then continue. With credits, write full chapters and press "Continue this story" to turn one scene into a multi-chapter fic.
Popular BG3 characters and ships to start with
You don't need a "correct" ship — type whoever you want. These adult-only starting points each come with a one-line seed you can paste into the premise.
Romance characters in FanficWizard are always written as adults. Skip any child-coded or teen NPC for romantic plots; use adventure, found family or gen instead.
- Astarion — wit, hunger, control versus trust; a favorite for x reader. Seed: "Astarion offers to stand watch — and does not mean it kindly."
- Gale — scholarly warmth, ambition, soft catastrophe. Seed: "Gale tries to cook at camp. The Weave disagrees."
- Shadowheart — secrets, loyalty, quiet devotion. Seed: "Shadowheart asks you to keep a prayer to yourself for one night."
- Karlach — heart-on-fire energy and found-family warmth. Seed: "Karlach wants one normal evening before the next fight."
- Lae'zel — blunt honor, rivals to respect. Seed: "Lae'zel challenges you to spar before dawn — no spectators."
- Wyll, Halsin and Minthara — heroism, wilderness gentleness, sharp ambition. Seed: "After a near miss, the camp finally says what it has been avoiding."
- Found family (adult camp) — gen and adventure without romance. Seed: "The companions share one last long rest before the gate."
Baldur's Gate 3 fanfic prompts to try
Paste any of these into the Premise field and edit the names freely (adult characters only). Three of them are behind the "Try an example" button above the form.
- "Astarion finds you awake on second watch and decides honesty is more dangerous than lying." Slow burn, bittersweet.
- "Gale and you are trapped in a pocket of the Weave until someone apologizes first." Forced proximity, humor.
- "Shadowheart tends a wound she insists is 'barely a scratch' and will not meet your eyes." Hurt/comfort, fluff.
- "Karlach declares tonight a celebration. The Absolute can wait until morning." Found family, adventure.
- "Lae'zel and a rival gith call a temporary truce in a ruined creche corridor." Enemies to lovers, angst.
- "Wyll owes a favor at a Baldur's Gate party; you agree to play the date." Fake dating, humor.
- "Coffee shop AU: Halsin runs a tiny herbal tea stall; you are the regular who always arrives after a storm." Coffee shop AU, fluff.
- "Soulmate AU: the first words on your skin are spoken by a pale elf who laughs like he does not mean it." Soulmates, angst.
Write a BG3 x reader
Want to be in the scene yourself — as Tav, Durge or an OC? Switch the point of view to second person (reader-insert), or open the x reader generator and set the fandom to Baldur's Gate 3.
Astarion is a popular x reader choice, along with the other grown-up companions. Your appearance stays open unless you describe it in the premise, and Y/N is optional: second-person "you" is enough. Romance stays General or Teen-rated, adult characters only.
Tips for better Baldur's Gate 3 fanfiction
- Ground the scene in one place: a riverside camp, the Elfsong balcony, a Shadow-Cursed trail. One clear setting beats a tour of Acts 1–3.
- Give the character one recognizable habit — Astarion's deflection, Gale's lectures, Karlach's laugh, Lae'zel's blunt honor. One is enough to lock the voice.
- State the stakes in the premise. "They're soft" is vague; "they have one night before the Absolute finds them" gives the scene a spine.
- Combine tropes on purpose: enemies to lovers with forced proximity, or found family with hurt/comfort, usually beats a single vague tag.
- Keep it Teen-rated. Kisses and fade-to-black are fine; explicit scenes are not. Adult characters only for romance.
